The weekend was spent sleeping, facebook, sleeping, facebook... Friday night was special. I went out with Cousin Raem to our uncle's pub, China One at clarke quay. The night was still young, we spent the evening having dinner, tea session and strolling in the mall before hitting the club at 10pm. The live band for the night was suppose to be tabula. But there is some other band replacing them for the night. Too bad for my cousin who likes tabula. Oh ya, and there are these two guys from Philippines who was rather high in spirits. They were dancing quite feminine in front of the live band. The main singer look kinda stunned while the regulars and serving staffs were laughing at them. Me too, cant stop myself from looking at their acts. ![]() the bunch from Philipines~ Uncle Tony, not that energy bar. My uncle, Tony is the owner of the pub who was busy that night. Walking here and there. Nevertheless, he paid for one round of our drinks. hehe. As usual, I ordered Mango Margaritas. My first round of Margaritas does not have salt or sugar on the rim of the glass which is not a normal sight. When Uncle Tony ordered our next round of drinks, the Margaritas has the salt on the glass rim. Its not like I really bother about the salt on the rim. It is that there is some attitude in their service which I dont like. They only treat us like a customer when they know Tony is our uncle. This is so wrong. Duh. ![]() cousin Raem lol. The music lifted up at midnight. The asian couple seated next to our table took their leave. The guy was friendly enough to say bye to me. Haha. And these bunch of people who dont look local was led to the table by a serving staff. The bunch of customers consists of three guys: Moroccan-French, Thai-6other nationalities and Portuguese ; a girl: Thai-Belgian. No, I do not have Xray eyes. Just that they made friends with my cousin. Thats when I was introduced to them. Nice people who are friendly and active. haha.

I was trying this question just now.. but gave up after 5 minutes because it is putting me to sleep. For those people who are free and want a dose to sleep, try this question! Mei and Lin were in a bicycle race. Mei was travelling at a constant speed of 20km/hr and they both did not change their speed. When Lin completed half the race, Mei was 3.5km ahead. Mei completed the race at 10.45am. What time did Lin complete the race? PS: this is the PSLE Maths question!

Date: 16 October 2009 Location: Serangoon/Hougang Rating (food): 4/5 Rating (beverage): 2/5 Rating (ambience): 2/5 Rating (service): 2/5 $$ spent: approximately $3 ![]() ![]() This is another well known Nasi Lemak outlet. I got no idea why Singaporeans love to eat Nasi Lemak so much. Firstly, you have to line up with over ten other customers infront of you. It would be few minutes before it is your turn. Then, aunties at the counter would ask you for your order. There are lotas dishes besides the normal chicken wings, otahs, fish.. You choose whatever you want. Based on Nigel's (Lionel's brother) information, it may costs more than $5, depending on what you ordered. The chicken wing is so crunchy, it was like munching on cookies (hard ones). Another famous side dish is the otah, sadly I did not order it. I would very much like to return for another plate of Nasi Lemak if I am free enough to queue. Labels: food

Date: 14 October 2009 Location: Margarita's (Dempsey) Rating (food): 3/5 Rating (beverage): 4/5 Rating (ambience): 4/5 Rating (service): 4/5 $$ spent: approximately $127 This meal was for our 2nd year anniversary celebration. Wow! It has been 2 years. Nevertheless, this treat is by Lionel. He was raving about this restaurant after his boss treated him and his colleagues there. Mexican cuisine has not been good buddy with my taste bud. So I shall leave the comments to others. I was feeling real guilty to had taken my lunch late and have the dinner with Lionel so early. I was unable to finish my dish. oOps. But one thing you should order if you ever step your foot in is the Margarita. I am a Margarita lover. Whenever we are out for a drink. I would order Margarita while the guys ordered their beers. The Mango Margarita here is way different from the others. So I decided that Margarita's Margarita is the original version. Hehe. Sorry for the photos being shot without flash. I do not want to alert the servers and customers with my flash. ![]() The well-blended Mango Margarita~ ![]() our appetiser - Quesadilla (sounds spanish). I love its cheesy taste. ![]() This is the beef fajita in hot plate.. ![]() Guess what is in this pocket? ![]() Tortillas! How cute is it? Keeping tortillas in this cloth pocket. ![]() As for me, I ordered Veracruzana. The side dish looks terrible in brown but it definitely tastes different from what it looks. ![]() Red snapper veracruzana. ![]() lionel cutting his cheesy appetiser.. ![]() Dont ask me, I got no idea what is he trying to do.. ![]() The decor in the restaurant.... Date: 15 October 2009 Location: Pahang Street Rating (food): 4/5 Rating (beverage): 2/5 Rating (ambience): 2/5 Rating (service): 3/5 $$ spent: approximately $8 ![]() My bowl of fried fish bee hoon The last time I went to this stall is back in polytechnic days. I remembered having this with Lishun and Zhi Cong (actually one more person go with us, but I forgotten who was it. Shawn?). It was an old uncle doing the cooking. But when I was there last evening, it was this auntie and a Chinese lady doing the serving. The soup base did not use any ginger, but dont worry, there is no fishy smell. Unlike those fakie fried fish bee hoon around Singapore street, this one has fresh fried fish, fried eggs added and 'hang cai' in it! Linus managed to finish the whole bowl. Hao Lian! Date: 15 October 2009 Location: Bagdad Street (off Arab Street) Rating (food): -/5 Rating (beverage): 3/5 Rating (ambience): 4/5 Rating (service): 4/5 $$ spent: approximately $30 nice teapot. our 'cigarette'It was my first visit to shisha place. The experience turned out to be quite a chill out. There were like 1001 outlets for shisha in this area (alrights, I had exaggerated). Frankly speaking, I had only travelled to Arab Street but not the tiny little street off Arab Street. I was surprised to see such treasures being hidden in this portion of Singapore. It was like discovering Middle East in Singapore. Once we are seated, we proceeded to kill each other on the Worms: Open Warfare 2 over the PSP. I won both two rounds of the game (I must tell this to the whole world). Our vanilla flavour shisha arrived within minutes of order. It smell so niceeeeeeee. Any health hazzard? I am not sure. But the smell exhale through the pipe is certainly pleasant. There are a few assistants helping to change the charcoal for the customers and they will not leave you in lurch as they check out the charcoal status every now and then. As we are sitting next to the road, we can see many types of women walking pass.. from ah tiongs to SPGs to little mei meis. Not a bad place to smoke shisha. My aftermath is kanna Lionel's comment - smelly~ Labels: food

Here I am, reviewing some restaurants I went this month. Date: 1 October 2009 Location: Duxton Hill (Tanjong Pagar area) Rating (food): 3/5 Rating (beverage): 3/5 Rating (ambience): 4/5 Rating (service): 3/5 $$ spent: approximately $60 the wishing well I only took the photo of this wishing well. The environment is peaceful and like some country side. Though the name of the pub - Toucan is so birdy, this is actually an Irish Pub. The Chinese native waiter spoke a good English which ris herself might not understand either. Well, we had our food order served and I considered the service is good enough. Both wee keong and I had beer battered fish & chip. It was not as oily as the one I had at cineleisure. Bless my waistline! these were what wee keong and goo ordered for their dinner. a tower of mint beer and this is mine. Cod fish with cavier and baked tomatoes. This cod fish is fresh! Oh ya, the tomatoes were juicy. Yum yum. At the background is my snow ball cocktail. this is mine too. The cod fish was digested in a while time and I had to ordered a prawn salad. Goo munching and calling the waiter at the same time. He and wee keong had a tower of beer and four different flavours of beers. They were in heaven by the time they were done. white lanterns hanging on the tree branchesBig red light balloon That night, ivin joined our table after her celebration with her colleagues at red dot while lawrence joined us after his lesson (the next day he went to Indonesia for the disaster relief job). Coincidentally, the singer, joel from the live band at red dot turned out to be their colleague (pssst! he is moonlighting). We threw a few dedications to joel and threatened to reveal his moonlight job. haha. Not forgetting they have two bingo sessions, at approximately 8pm and 10pm. Wee keong wanted to bring Peanut and I over to this place but Peanut thinks this is a tourist trap. Nevertheless, I had a good fun with the bingo though I got no bingo. They gave out 3 $50 vouchers to the winners per session. Never mind about the voucher, we got a free pizza from the singer. We even had a good chat with the boss who turned out to be from the same army formation as the guys on my table. Duh. One thing I am not pleased is this foreign waitress who actually gave us a look when we want to order some food. Definitely she was having a bad day. As for those people who kept saying Singaporeans do not provide good service~ I just want to tell you it is not just Singaporeans who do not have a service oriented behaviour. People from other nationality would have such behaviour as well. Dont grumble. Date: 9 October 2009 Location: Po Pian at Bukit Merah Rating (food): 3/5 Rating (beverage): 2/5 Rating (ambience): 2/5 Rating (service): 5/5 $$ spent: approximately $60 wee keong doing his po pian The filling in my po pian There were only 4 tables occupied among approximately 12 tables. Together with wee keong, we ordered 6 po pians, 1 prawn omelette, 1 claypot seafood tofu and 1 plate of prawn roll. We were totally full and we were unable to finish the meal. In the end, we played finger guessing game to force each other to finish it. . . Date: 10 October 2009 Location: Po Po Le @ East Coast Rating (food): 1/5 Rating (beverage): 2/5 Rating (ambience): 3/5 Rating (service): 3/5 $$ spent: approximately $25 this jukebox brings you back to the 1970s. while on the table, there were the plates, bowls and chopsticks from the past. firstly, tick your orders... then wait like an idiot.I did not take the photos of our claypot mushroom and chicken rice. Because, one, we were famished. Two, the food is not as what I expected. The normal claypot chicken rice (I am referring to the one at Clementi) has dark soya sauce and sesame oil as the sauces while the ingredients consist of chinese sausage, vegetables, chicken, mushroom (is there mushroom?). For this one claypot restaurant, the ingredient is like what its name stated - mushroom and chicken while the sauce? The sesame oil which already mixed with light soya sauce. Totally not to my liking. I was still hungry after the meal. Date: 11 October 2009 Location: Mandai Lake Road Rating (food): 4/5 Rating (beverage): 3/5 Rating (ambience): 4/5 Rating (service): 4/5 $$ spent: approximately $60
Forgive me, I did not know I was heading to this restaurant for my lunch. I was basically wearing my adidas top, shorts and slippers. We were having this lunch before heading to Bukit Timah for a hike.
Lionel is forever working...
While he is at work, I am looking here and there. I spotted this dirt on the table cloth, and there were many other stains on the table cloth as well. Duh. But the dirt is not pissing me off.. because of...
the food! We were having crab cake for appeitiser!
Lionel commented that this is good as it is full of
as for my main, the red snapper fillet in the fish shape, as well as the mashed potato. Though the potato was not well mashed, the taste is definitely buttery potatoish. what a word. The fish was pan fried in a good butter too. Yum yum.
Our dessert, chocolate lava. The vanilla ice cream is so pretty. I decided to order this to taste its royce chocolate. the view from my seat. Lionel said this is a good place for solemisation. I agree.. closer to the nature and I find it would be a good wedding location (no invitation to those unwanted people)Date: 11 October 2009 Location: Gustimo at Ion Orchard Rating (food): 3/5 Rating (beverage): 3/5 Rating (ambience): 3/5 Rating (service): 4/5 $$ spent: approximately $20
my usual order - Margarita~
I have this, Biscotto, bosco and another italian word which I forgotten. Basically the flavours are biscuit, mixed berries and mixed tropical fruits. No sinful ice cream, the biscuit flavour is 97% fat free, while the other two flavours are zero fat! good good~ Lionel was dead beat from the hike. haha.Labels: food

You are not mistaken, I headed to bukit timah for a hike with these people: lionel, wee keong, ivin, guang wei, francis and lorraine. The purpose of this hike is to season ivin's new trek shoes. haha. She is heading to himalayas with wee keong this end of November. Good luck. The route to the summit is not easy, the trail is the combination of natural walkway and man made concrete support. I pity those tree's roots which are bare from the earth. Oh yes, monkeys are around, saw one at the branches and I ran as fast as I could. I read about stories on how monkeys fool those passerby, I do not want to be the victim of those evil monkeys. I saw two small gates on two small roads and they seem to be related to the defence force. It holds a mysterious feel and if I am not wrong, the local sitcom did a research on that. Oh ya, we came across this little waterfall which is actually like a reservoir to the little animals in the nature reserve. nice little waterfall from the twig. The last path to the summit was most tedious. High concrete steps on the steep hill. I was hoping a fairy god mother would appear and point her magic wand on the steepy steps, turning it into a working escalator. Oops, I was day dreaming.

Last evening I managed to get Francis and his gf out, together with wee keong, we watch Funny People. The movie talks about comedians, not a comedy. Here I am, on a Saturday night, sitting on my bed with MacBook communicating with me. I am suppose to be hitting out the road, jogging. I overslept. Yawn* For this week, I had jogged for a total of 3km, at approximately half an hour. Tomorrow, we are heading to bukit timah for a hike. At least I will not feel guilty if I am putting on weight or putting that block of chocolate into my mouth. How about you guys? Pass your ippt? Hehe.

Two more days to the weekend. This weekend, my intention is to do exercise. Sunday might be heading to trek at our little hill - bukit timah. While I might go for a jog at east coast on saturday. Hmm, do I have anything on this weekend? My objective for today is to get a knee support and check out polar watch. So together with wee keong, we headed to velocity. We shopped around and we got Nike's Patella Band which is only $17.90. Yes, I am emphasizing that $17.90 is cheap. We recee at some stores where they sold something similar (which brands I never heard of), those unknown brands cost as much as $29 to $60. I was not willing to part such amount of money as I am just a beginner in running. Even wee keong was convinced by Nike's pricing. In the end, we bought a knee band each. ![]() my victory! |
